Dante Society of America Events

Sessions at Academic Conferences

The Dante Society of America sponsors panels at the International Congress on Medieval Studies (ICMS), the Modern Languages Association (MLA) Convention, the Renaissance Society of America (RSA) Annual Meeting, and the American Association for Italian Studies (AAIS) Conference. You can find the latest calls for papers below. 

Annual Symposium

Since 2014, the Society organizes an Annual Symposium, sometimes in conjunction with its Annual Meeting, and always open to all members. You can find recordings of previous symposiums below. 

Annual Meeting

The Dante Society of America holds its Annual Meeting for all members every Spring. In recent years, the meetings are being held via Zoom, and a special program follows the business part of the meeting. The meeting minutes and recordings of recent meetings can be found below. 

Graduate Student Conference

Since 2024, the Graduate Student Group organizes an annual Graduate Student Conference, hosted at different universities in the United States.


Call for Papers

Dante Society of America Sponsored Panels 
Renaissance Society of America (RSA) Annual Meeting
March 11-13, 2027
Philadelphia, PA
 

We are delighted to announce that the RSA Philadelphia 2027 CFP season is now open. RSA members are invited to submit Calls for Papers to organize sessions for our 73rd Annual Meeting, taking place March 11-13, 2027, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The DSA is now accepting CFPs or proposals for panels on any Dantean topic. Please submit a draft of the CFP or a proposal for a panel (including title, brief topic description, list of participants' names, their paper's titles, and abstracts) for consideration to Filippo Gianferrari ([email protected]) by May 30th. 

The editors of the selected CFPs and panel proposals will be notified by June 1st. CFPs for the DSA-sponsored panels will be circulated beginning on June 1st through the end of June. Selected papers will be notified by July 30st.


 

Dante Society of America Graduate Student Conference
Dante and His Interlocutors
September 26, 2026
New Haven, CT

The third edition of the Dante Society of America Graduate Student Conference, titled “Dante and His Interlocutors,” will take place at Yale University on September 26, 2026.

This one-day conference offers an opportunity for emerging dantisti to present their research in dialogue with fellow graduate students and scholars. 

Eligibility is open to:

  • PhD students currently enrolled in a graduate program at a research institution in the Americas (including temporary visiting scholars) in Fall 2026
  • Scholars who obtained their PhD in 2025 in the Americas or who are currently in the Americas

Submissions should include:

  • An abstract (maximum 250 words)
  • A short bio (maximum 150 words)

Submission deadline: June 15, 2026
Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2026

Abstracts and bios should be submitted via the following Google Form.
